As the date of our Theatre Trip draws closer, we need your payment and menu selections for our pre-theatre meal.

As you will recall, we have negotiated a two course menu (starter and main) for just £17.00 including service.

I attach the menu and would be grateful if you could let us have your selections as soon as possible so that we can pass these to the restaurant.

Please confirm your selections via the key words highlighted in yellow.

Please also transfer the necessary £17.00 per person to the TSCC in the normal way with the reference “Bacaro”.

If you wish to add a glass of wine or a coffee add £5.00. If you wish to add a dessert add £5.00. If you are paying a supplement please let us know what this is for.

As regards parking, we suggest the Victoria Place car park which is accessed via Victoria Way. This is contained within the Peacocks Centre where the theatre is located. If approaching from the M25 take the second of the two car park entrances on Victoria Way and park as near as possible to the exit barrier to minimise queueing when leaving.

Bacaró, the restaurant at which we will be eating, is just a couple of minutes from the theatre. Directions from Jubilee Square outside the Peacocks Centre to the restaurant are attached. The plan is to gather at the restaurant at 5.00pm so we have plenty of time for a leisurely meal and a convivial catch-up.

Firstly, on behalf of all your Committee, here’s wishing you a happy, healthy 2023.

Please find attached details of the TSCC spring theatre trip – this year something a little different – ‘The Sounds of the 60s Live’ hosted by the evergreen Tony Blackburn at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking. This roadshow has now been playing to enthusiastic audiences all around the country for several years and its popularity shows no sign of waning – just like the popularity of the music itself.

If you don’t know the New Victoria, Woking, it is a modern theatre with comfortable seating and plenty of legroom, located inside a shopping mall with plenty of parking.

To confirm your tickets please let Jackie know asap and transfer your payment in the usual way. As you will see from the flyer, seats are limited and we need to finalise numbers and pay for the tickets by 28th January.

If you would also like to join us for a pre-theatre bite to eat please let Jackie know. We will be eating at Bacaro, an Italian restaurant just a few feet from the venue where we have negotiated a two course menu (starter and main) for just £17.00 including service or £22.50 including a drink (beer, wine or soft drink) and a coffee.

Please find attached details of an open air production of Romeo and Juliet that will take place at Hatchlands Park, East Clandon on Sunday 30th July.

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men is a highly acclaimed touring theatre group so it promises to be terrific event.

As you will see, you need to take your own chairs and a picnic if desired.

Those attending can be dropped off at the visitor centre. From there it is a 200 yard walk to the seating area. Wheelchairs and buggy transportation are available for those who might need this. There is also blue badge parking at visitor centre.

If you would like to attend please let me know and make your payment to the TSCC in the usual way with the reference “Romeo”.

On Saturday 2nd September we have in the calendar a guided tour of the Clandon Park restoration that is currently underway following the serious fire that damaged large parts of the building.

The National Trust has now confirmed that these tours will take place this autumn on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Unfortunately, they are only offering one tour per day starting at 11.00am and lasting around 45 minutes.

The maximum number on each tour is ten participants. Clearly this precludes the organisation of a guided tour for a larger group.

In these circumstances, we are suggesting that those interested should book directly with the National Trust on a first come basis.

The tour and entry to Clandon Park is free to National Trust members and £8.00 per person to non-members.

After the guided tour you may like to picnic in the grounds, something which is encouraged by the National Trust.

The only facilities currently on site are toilets.

If you do book for the tour on 2nd September please let us know and we will confirm which other members have also booked. You will then be able to coordinate any picnic arrangements.

If you cannot get onto the Saturday tour we suggest booking for the Sunday tour.

Clearly this is not as we had hoped or planned but hopefully this proposed arrangement will allow those who are interested to take the tour – and hopefully to enjoy a convivial picnic afterwards.

Please find attached details of the TSCC 2023 Norfolk Broads Autumn Cruise.

As you will see, hiring boats on the beautiful Broads is relatively inexpensive and, because there are no locks or significant tidal flows, these wonderful waterways are a great place to get afloat without the challenges of the Thames.

We do hope you will decide to join us for a great week afloat with all the usual TSCC fun and camaraderie.

If you are interested to share a boat please let us know and we will put you in touch with any others likewise interested.
