DESCRIPTION:2020 Thames Cruise – Overnight Mooring Plan-FINAL \n  \nIt looks like EA moorings will not be bookable this year so here is our overnight mooring plan.  We have selected locations where we think with a bit of luck there will be space for all of us provided we arrive early and stay flexible. \n  \n  \nTuesday 4th August \n  \nDestination – Cookham Lock \n180 feet of EA moorings in weir stream below weir at rhs of lock going upstream with the potential to raft up.  Not on Thames Visitor Moorings list so unlikely to be busy. \n  \nFall-back 1 – Upstream of Lock \nIn weir stream upstream of weir where Club used to gather many years ago. \n  \nFall-back 2 – Cookham Marsh Meadow \n1404 feet of moorings owned by Meadow Farm.  £6.00 per night.  Often very busy since it is a relatively short walk across field to the village. \n  \nFall-back 3 – Bourne End \nMoorings downstream of the Bounty with the potential to raft up. \n  \nWednesday 5th and Thursday 6th August \n  \nDestination – Hurley Lock (two nights) \nAccording to Giles\, now the pubs have reopened the island is again pretty quiet.  Moorings are generally almost empty mid-week but busier at weekends.  Giles is not inspecting moorings so we can put out “Reserved” signs.  No other clubs have been enquiring about booking moorings. \n  \nFirst Night Fall-back – Overnight moorings ¾ mile upstream of lock on left bank \nShown as overnight moorings on Thames map.  Length of moorings uncertain. \n  \nSecond Night Fall-back 1 – Field downstream of Phyllis Court\, Henley \nWhere Traditional Boat Rally is held.  Ample moorings.  Within walking distance of Henley. \n  \nSecond Night Fall-back 2 – Opposite Henley Management College \nNot within walking distance of Henley. \n  \nFriday 7th August \n  \nDestination – Sonning riverbank below lock \nAmple moorings.  Possible charge of £10.00 per night.  A couple of free Coppa Club moorings for patrons. \n  \nFall-back – Upstream of Lock \n492 feet of overnight moorings. \n  \nAlternative – Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club \nBy prior arrangement.

DESCRIPTION:Download Flyer:    TSCC 2020 Thames Cruise v3[9048] \nIMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE SECRETARY 7th FEBRUARY 2020: \nDear All \nBecause we have been unable to book the moorings at Hurley for the originally intended nights\, we have revised our plans and we are delighted to announce a new itinerary which we believe to have many significant advantages. \nHere are the new plans: \nSaturday – Boveney Lock – Moorings booked. Centrally catered group meal.\nSunday – Cookham Lock – Moorings booked. There are around 180 feet of moorings along a pleasant backwater below a weir. We could raft up if necessary but this is unlikely to be necessary. We will move the group barbeque to the Sunday so that everyone can participate. There is a grassy riverside bank where we could hold the barbeque.\nMonday – Cookham – Outing to the Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery as already planned. There is a private EA road to the lock and we would hope to get permission for the minibus to meet us at the lock. The walk to the village is around ten minutes – no longer than the walk from Hurley lock to the village.\nTuesday – Hurley Lock – Moorings booked. Optional meal at the Rising Sun\nWednesday – Sonning. We have rechecked and there are ample riverside moorings\, plus further potential moorings at the UTYC. Dinner and show at Sonning Mill. \nFor those planning to participate using hotel accommodation there are various options including: \nThe Olde Belle at Hurley – Less than a 20 minute drive to Cookham\nThe Bel and Dragon in Cookham. There is no parking at the Bel and Dragon but there are various options: \n1. Unrestricted overnight parking on the High Street from 18.00 to 09.00. During the day\, High Street parking is restricted to two hours\n2. A small free car park just around the corner past the Stanley Spencer Gallery\n3. Free parking in Odney Lane\, also nearby on the way to the lock\n4. There is probably other nearby unrestricted on-street parking but we have not investigated\n5. An NT car park at the other end of the village (a 5-10 minute walk). This is free to NT members or otherwise £2.00 per day. Unlikely to be any problem parking there.\nSTOP PRESS Rooms can also be booked at the MOOR HALL CONFERENCE CENTRE in Cookham\, website: https://moor-hall-conference-centre-gb.book.direct/en-GB\n(Peter and Pauline have already booked themselves & 3 others there.)\nThe Cookham moorings are very pleasant\, there is water at the lock and there is much more of interest in Cookham than there is in Hurley. \nWe hope you will like this new plan which we believe to have many positives – not least a complete change from recent times at Hurley. \nWe look forward to your thoughts and would skippers please let me know your intentions with regard to your overnight mooring requirements\, i.e. Boveney Lock Sat.20th June\, Cookham Lock Sun.21st & Mon.22nd June\, Hurley Lock Tues.23rd June and Sonning EA moorings Wed.24th June.
